How I started From Zero To Multiple Income Streams

Growing up in Uganda teaches you one thing very early: if you don’t hustle, you don’t eat. Life doesn’t hand you opportunities wrapped in gold; you carve those opportunities yourself with your bare hands, your sweat, and your stubborn belief that tomorrow can be better than today.

My story is not perfect. It’s not flashy. It’s not the one you hear from kids who grew up with everything.

My story is the story of starting from dust literally  and building slowly, stubbornly, consistently… until things finally started taking shape.

This is the journey of how a simple chapati business became the first seed that later grew into multiple income streams, a blog, Forex trading, digital work, motivation, and a mission larger than myself. I’m sharing this not because I’m rich or because I have everything figured out.

I’m sharing it because someone out there is standing exactly where I once stood  broke, confused, and tired  but still dreaming. And maybe my journey can push you one more step forward.

Every dream begins with a small step, and this is the story of how a young Ugandan hustler rose from a corner chapati business to building multiple income streams both offline and online. If you’ve ever felt stuck, discouraged, or unsure of where to start — I hope my journey lights up something inside you. Because trust me, if I did it, you can do it too.

Where It All Began — The Humble Chapati Life

I didn’t grow up with much. There was no rich uncle, no hidden inheritance, no sponsorship waiting for me. What I had was a dream and the willingness to work. My story began with a small chapati stall. Just me, firewood, flour, a frying pan, and faith.

Every day, I woke up early and slept late. Every shilling I earned mattered. Some days were good, some days were hard, but I kept pushing because deep down I believed in something bigger.

I used to save 5,000 UGX per day. It sounded small to some people, but that little consistency is what changed everything. That 5,000 wasn’t “money.” It was a seed — a seed that would later grow into shops, trading accounts, and online platforms.

The Turning Point — Vision + Discipline

People always ask me, “Yiga, what changed your life?” The truth is simple: vision and discipline. I made a decision that if God had given me the strength to hustle, then I could create something bigger than just daily survival.

I studied people who had made it in life and realized something powerful: most successful people start small but think big. And that’s exactly what I did.

My mindset changed from “just making chapati” to “building my future.”

Step One: Saving With Purpose

Instead of spending everything, I began saving intentionally. That little money built up slowly. I understood that consistency beats speed. Even today, it’s the same principle I teach people: you don’t need big money to begin; you need big discipline.

Step Two: Starting My First Side Hustles

With my savings, I started testing small businesses. First, I added drinks and snacks to my chapati stall. Then I began selling simple electronics and phone accessories. The money wasn’t huge, but it flowed. And one thing about money is this:

When money starts to flow, your ideas start to grow.

Slowly, my confidence increased, and I began reinvesting in myself.

Discovering the Online World — The Game Changer

The biggest shift of my life came when I discovered the internet not as a place for entertainment, but as a marketplace.

I learned that you could make money using a phone. That you could earn from affiliate marketing. That you could trade forex. That you could build a brand. That you could inspire people and get paid for it. All from your smartphone.

That blew my mind. From then, I became a student of the internet. I watched videos, joined groups, read blogs, and practiced every day. That curiosity later turned into something powerful: Glow With Yiga, my blog and motivation platform.

Building Multiple Income Streams

Today, I am not where I want to be yet, but I’m no longer where I used to be. My income flows from different sources, both offline and online:

  • My chapati business
  • Electronics and accessories sales
  • Affiliate marketing
  • My blog (Glow With Yiga)
  • Forex trading
  • Content creation
  • Motivational work

I always tell young Ugandans: if you want to succeed faster, don’t depend on one income stream. Build two, then three, then four. Not at once — step by step.

The Pain, The Failures & The Lessons

Let me be honest — it hasn’t been a smooth journey. I’ve lost money. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve failed businesses. I’ve had days where I questioned myself. But every failure taught me something new.

My biggest lessons?

  • Start with what you have.
  • Never underestimate small beginnings.
  • Believe in yourself even when others don’t.
  • Pray. Work. Be patient.
  • Reinvest your profits, not your excuses.

Why I Share My Journey

I don’t share my story to show off. I share it because someone out there is standing exactly where I stood years ago  broke, confused, frustrated, but still hopeful. If my story can light even one candle in someone’s darkness, then God has used me well.

Glow With Yiga exists because I want to teach, motivate, and guide everyday hustlers across Uganda and Africa. I want to show people that success is not about luck — it’s about consistency, mindset, and faith.

Where I’m Going Next

My dream is to build bigger businesses, create more online platforms, and lift others along the way. I want to reach millions with encouragement, practical skills, and financial guidance.

This is just the beginning.

A Word to You Reading This

If you’re reading this, let me talk to you directly:

You may not have much right now. You may feel stuck. You may be wondering if your dreams are even possible. But listen  your story is still being written. Where you are today is not your final destination.

If you start now, stay consistent, learn, grow, pray, and never give up — you will surprise yourself.

Your story can change. Your life can change. Your future can change. All it takes is one decision: to start.

Conclusion: Start Small, Think Big

My journey from a chapati stall to building multiple income streams is living proof that small beginnings can lead to big victories. I’m still growing, still learning, still fighting  and so should you.

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can. And trust God with the results.

Your glow is coming. Just don’t stop.
